I was doing my damned economics homework and it asked what's the relationship between sugar cane and ethanol, and also sugar and ethanol.

So i was wondering, is sugar really from sugar cane? The sources on the worksheet also never say.

At first i thought, "Duh. SUGAR of course from SUGAR cane lah. If not the 'SUGAR' is there for what?"

But maybe not so on second thought. How can a green green stick become something white white or brown brown powderish stuff?


And sometimes names can give you wrong information. Like how Whitley is black.


I asked 6 people on msn if sugar is made from sugar cane or not.

3 said "yes" and 3 said "maybe".

Then one of them who told me "maybe" showed me a wiki-answers link to my question after he went to help me find it out.


Indeed sugar is made from sugar cane. =.=
