Remember that essay question about punishment or rehabilitation is better?
I am for punishment.
Particularly because i don't have any good experience with the yellow ribbon campaign.
I had bad ones.
I don't know about now, but Orchard Road once was full of people from a rehab organisation selling $2 pens, in which according to them, the funds will be used to help ex-convicts reform or something.
At that time, every single trip i go there i will encounter 1 of them.
I bought 2 or 3 pens in the beginning, and i don't really like that pen. It's ball point and the ink is too light and 'weak' for my liking.
I wanted to stop buying, because my $6 is significant already.
Then, on my next trip to orchard road for some Boys' Brigade stuff, i met one more at the mrt station wanting to sell that pen to me and 2 of my comrades.
I rejected, no matter what. That pai kia said, " EH you can pool your money together to buy 1 pen also."
Nope. I still don't want.
We were in a hurry, and i wanted to get away as fast as possible, he kept rephrasing his statement repeatedly, also especially since my comrades seemed a little indecisive about what to do, and it looked like they were counting on me for escape.
So, i told him, politely, " EH , don't want lah. Don't be like extortion."
Then after hearing my rejection he not happy, he go corner me in 1 spot and shouted," OOI nabei knn extortion arh? You want me give you $5 go down buy dictionary go check what is extortion or not?!"
Well, isn't this precisely extortion? I am pretty sorry if you didn't listen properly to your english teacher in class.
If you claim it isn't extortion, so please be smart a bit and don't pester me to buy your pen and leave me alone.
It's my money.
I can't do or say anything much in response, because i was wearing my Boys' Brigade uniform. There are some hidden rules to follow.
So i just stared at him, and let him say whatever rubbish as a yellow ribbon ambassador.
Then he continued," So you want buy or not?"
Nope. You kao bei me still want fucking ask me buy your pen arh?
Of course i didn't say it out.
I just said a "No."
Then he gave the sian not happy look and went down the escalator. And i think he pointed the middle finger.
0.O
After i finished my Boys' Brigade stuff and went back down to the mrt station and i saw him again with his group of sellers there. He saw me, and he gave an additional never-kenna-whack-before face.
Oh well.
It's so unfortunate that this small incident made me a little unsupportive for yellow ribbon because of this black sheep.
Then in another incident that happened when i met my friend in Orchard Road.
This glib talker, probably an experienced one in a rehab organisation, approached us and asked if we want to buy that pen.
As usual, i said no. Then he went on and on and talked about some interesting stuff about what he is doing, and somehow entertaining us. Ok, we seemed a little convinced to buy that stupid pen.
When we were taking out our wallets and were going to take out money, he suddenly stopped us and said," Nonono we don't want your sympathy, we're not begging for your money."
OKAY. THEN go away AND DON'T WASTE MY TIME.
Well, i guess that's some retribution for me for that previous incident where i phrased my rejection wrongly and made that yellow ribbon ambassador showed his true colours.
Next time, i will think of a better one and more clever one too to reject. Unless that seller is able to convince me like that glib talker did.
Currently hooked on classical Touhou music arranges from TAMusic. Seriously, they are awesome.
PROFILE
Ayayayaya ~
Touhou Fan.
Listens mostly to Touhou doujin music
(Because the creator of Touhou (ZUN) is damn talented, his BGM for the game series are godly, including the game series he made itself, and hence many dedicated groups of musicians do arranges of his original BGM)
("Arranges" are one level higher than "covers")
Very Japanese-oriented, absolutely not Korean-crazy like the crowd out there
Watches Japanese anime
Wants to do, learn and try many, many things, but finds it hard to find the time, commitment, and energy to do all of that
Life is short, and i want mine to be especially so
