My economics text/notes roughly says that," In a free enterprise economy, individuals , through the price mechanism, will only consider private costs and benefits, ignoring externalities. To the individual producer/consumer, he will only produce/consume up to private efficiency and does not take into account external costs generated."



Then i was wondering, if i were to extrapolate this to real life - daily interactions with peers or members of community and all that - wouldn't it be kinda sad that people only cared about themselves and it's almost like the concept of altruism is all but a ridiculous farce.

I really hope and wish there isn't such a person and psychopath among the people i know - such person whose mind is only all about thoughts and actions to maximise his own welfare and benefits.

I don't want to know someone who would flee (silently) when his peers/"friends" are in danger, to not want to get involved and implicated along; who would actively perpetuate and influence others to follow and agree with his radical and biased opinions and narrow-minded views of the world so that he can live in denial or that people will have a better opinion of him; who is a ridiculous loser who would not accept any challenges and criticisms against himself and his own views.







Okay this is getting annoying and infuriating. I am gonna stop ranting. Oh and i am not really referring specifically to anyone in that above descriptive text, so calm your over-sensitive self down if you think i am referring to anyone in that pile of nonsense.
